School Programs

Australian Print Workshop has extensive experience in devising and presenting print-based educational programs for secondary school students and teachers.

Workshops at our place or yours – half-day, full day or extended print-based projects over one or two school terms – for teachers and students.

For students

Bring your secondary students for a printmaking workshop at Australian Print Workshop and experience how the professional printmaking studio environment positively influences their approach and output. Students are introduced to professional practice, including a full briefing on occupational health and safety issues and procedures. All participants produce at least one print to take with them at the completion of the workshop.

Artworks by leading contemporary Australian artists on the walls of the APW Open Access Studio and the adjacent APW Gallery provide context and inspiration.

Australian Print Workshop’s highly skilled team bring broad experience to devising workshops and programs for schools and teachers.

Australian Print Workshop has partnered with various schools and teaching staff to present extended school residency projects. Conducted over one or two school terms, major print-based projects have been realised, creating a school-wide impact and an enduring legacy.

For teachers

Australian Print Workshop also provides professional development workshops in printmaking for groups of teachers.

Among APW’s regular class programs generally include survey printmaking courses which cover a range of low-tech printmaking processes. These courses provide art teachers with ideas and techniques that are readily adapted to the classroom setting.

Teachers with some experience in printmaking are able to pursue professional development in a particular technique (etching, lithography, relief printing) through APW’s classes.
