How can I use the Access Studio?
To use the APW Access Studio artists must be competent in
printmaking and able to work independently, as the studio
does not offer tuition and cannot provide full supervision
for those wishing to learn a new medium.
If you would like to use the Australian Print Workshop Access
Studio for the first time, please contact
us to make an appointment. This will be an opportunity
to show an APW staff member a selection of prints that you
have produced and printed yourself. In this way APW staff
can assess your technical ability and determine your competency
in the medium.
Graduates of Australian Print Workshop Summer
School and Printmaking
Classes may also be able to utilise the printmaking facilities
of the APW Access Studio, providing they work in areas that
correspond with the classes they have successfully completed.
Artists new to the APW Access Studio will need to complete
a period of probation, during which time APW staff will be
able to more fully assess the artist's command of the print
medium. If necessary, APW staff may advise artists that their
skills need to be further developed and recommend that they
attend Printmaking Classes
conducted by the Workshop.
All artists are required to sign an agreement form before
commencing use of the APW Access Studio. A new agreement form
must be signed each year. Australian Print Workshop staff
will explain details of the agreement with artists.
